Our client based in the South West of England is recruiting for a Homelessness Team Manager to develop, update and implement clear and effective arrangements for the management of temporary accommodation and procurement of private rented property to provide a high-quality customer centred tenancy support for homeless households living in temporary accommodation.
Duties
- To provide direct supervision of staff, ensuring agreed team plans and performance targets are delivered and that a culture of putting our resident’s first and continuous service improvement is maintained.
- Develop initiatives which improve access to the private rented sector and further enhance partnership working with the sector, to provide a wider range of housing solutions for households in housing need within the borough.
- Contribute to private sector housing events and meetings, including the Landlords Forum, raising awareness of the council initiatives, to ensure on-going engagement to increase the supply of private rented accommodation.
- Leads the team in providing a single point of contact for landlords, letting agents and property owners, offering advice on tenancy agreements, landlord/tenant mediation, Notice to Quits, Possession Proceedings and welfare benefits.
- Ensure that the rent accounts of all residents in the Council’s temporary accommodation are monitored effectively and that appropriate and timely action is taken to address the reason for non-payment and late payment.
- To proactively develop new services and ways of working with the express aim of minimising homelessness in the borough.
 
Knowledge and Experience
- A minimum of two years supervisory experience and working in a front facing team interviewing and assessing clients need for assistance.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience assessing homelessness
- Expert knowledge of The Homeless Reduction Act 2017, The Housing Act 1996 Part VI &VII, Codes of guidance from central government, DWP guidance on personal and housing Benefits, Landlord and Tenant law 1985
- Ability to use HR processes and manage a team of staff.
