Buckingham Futures are recruiting for a Nature Conservation Officer on behalf of our client in the South West of England to assist with the planning on all aspects of nature conservation policy and practice ensuring that wildlife resource is protected and improved.

 

 

Duties

 

  1. Provide expert advice to Development Management and Strategic & Planning on all aspects of statutory nature conservation practice, enforcement, defence of decisions and policy development;

 

  1. Advise and inform Development Management colleagues on statutory duties relating to nature conservation;

 

  1. Work in partnership with the development sector to raise the standard of planning proposals in order to protect and provide for wildlife,

 

  1. Coordinate availability and use of up-to-date biological records;

 

  1. Maintain, monitor and develop the network of locally protected wildlife and geological sites; and

 

  1. Model and promote good equalities practice and value diversity across the service.

 

 

Requirements

 

  1. Qualified to graduate and / or full professional level in an environmental subject or equivalent experience through Accredited Prior Learning;

 

  1. A proven track record, over a minimum of 2 years, of successfully providing complex nature conservation advice as this relates to statutory planning duties for local authorities;

 

  1. Proven experience of the assessment of ecological surveys and complex development proposals affecting wildlife;

 

  1. Experience of policy formulation as this relates to statutory planning duties for local authorities;

 

  1. Good understanding of urban nature conservation;

 

  1. Proven competence in working with communities to promote understanding and enjoyment of wildlife;

 

  1. Proven competence in delivering site management for wildlife including preparation of technical specifications and site management plans.

 

 

Rate c£350.00 per day.
