Our client in Buckinghamshire is recruiting for a Planning Enforcement Officer to investigate complaints regarding breaches of planning legislation, obtaining evidence and preparing advice as to resolving planning related problems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. To carry out site visits and carry out research to investigate alleged breaches of planning control.
  2. To try and resolve any breaches by negotiation and discussion with ‘developer’ complainant and others with a third party interest.
  3. When necessary, to gather evidence and offer a written recommendation as to the need or otherwise to take formal action.
  4. Monitoring and enforcing compliance with planning conditions.
  5. As appropriate to deal with planning applications arising from enforcement matters
  6. As required, to give evidence in court on behalf of the Council
  7. As appropriate to deal with appeals arising from enforcement matters
  8. Preparation of statistics in relation to enforcement matters.
  9. Section 215 (untidy site) notices.
  10. To meet applicants, complainants, and members of the public and other bodies in relation to current or potential development proposals and enforcement matters.
  11. To assist with the monitoring, implementation and review of development plan policies.
  12. To answer day to day enquiries from the general public and any other interested parties on any matter relating to planning control.
  13. Such other minor and/or non-recurring duties appropriate to the post as may be directed.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Education to degree level in a relevant specialist area or equivalent demonstrable knowledge allowing the role holder to be eligible to work towards Post Graduate (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area and eligibility for Technical of Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
  2. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
  3. Previous experience of Development Management and/or Planning Enforcement
  4. Knowledge of rules and procedures relevant to investigations, enforcement action other related areas
Pay rate £30-£38 per hour depending on experience
