We have a specialist Anti-Social Behaviour Team that has been established to tackle anti-social behaviour across the Borough in Essex on an initial 3 month basis.
The Principal Anti-Social Behaviour Officer will manage and lead staff, within the team, developing effective preventative initiatives and operational policies and procedures.
·        Main duties and responsibilities
·        To receive casework referrals from designated referral agencies, including the Police and Housing Management, regarding serious anti-social behaviour, nuisance and harassment.
·        To interview victims, perpetrators and potential witnesses of anti-social behaviour and ensure that the appropriate monitoring takes place.
·        To work with and support other Directorates and agencies to ensure the development and implementation of an effective strategy for reducing anti-social behaviour.
·        To manage budgets as it relates to services, equipment and any buildings.
·        To undertake the recruitment and induction of Community Wardens and other staff.
·        To monitor performance against agreed service standards.
·        To establish and continually develop relationships with key partners in Social Services and the Health Authorities in order to enhance resident welfare.
·        Develop and present cross-departmental training programmes on anti-social behaviour.
·        Represent the Council and participate at multi-agency working groups.
·        Contribute to the Council’s Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy Plan.
·        Make a contribution to the ongoing development of service standards and improving internal procedures.
·        To liaise with the Police, solicitors, Social Services, Probation Services, Youth Offending Team and other relevant agencies.
·        To maintain accurate records in a thorough and organised manner and to operate word processing equipment in order to produce documents quickly, professionally and efficiently.
·        To witness incidents of anti-social behaviour, nuisance, harassment and other breaches of tenancy conditions.
·        To implement support systems for victims of serious harassment/anti-social behaviour.
·        To reply to correspondence connected with casework and prepare reports as necessary.
·        To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of housing, civil and criminal law and offer advice and assistance when required.
·        To build relationships within the target communities to try to tackle the individual problems within the area, including attendance at community meetings as required.
·        To recommend improvements and contribute to developments in procedures for dealing with anti-social behaviour and harassment.
·        To be able to attend in an emergency, or as directed by the supervising officer, to incidents of anti-social behaviour outside of normal working hours.
·        In the absence of the Senior Community Warden, provide day-to-day supervision and management of the Community Wardens.
·        To attend on behalf of the Anti-social Behaviour Team, meetings of tenants and residents and community groups as appropriate.
·        Any other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the post.
