Our client in South London is looking for an Air Quality/Climate Change/Sustainabilty Officer to join it sustainability team.
Main purpose
To be the technical expert in borough for Air Quality and/or Energy and Climate Change. To
also work on other aspects of sustainability including contaminated land, Fairtrade and
corporate social responsibility. To support officers and teams within Neighbourhoods and
elsewhere in the delivery of development, projects and work packages to ensure minimum
impact on the environment.
Key Unit Accountabilities
1. Manage the development, implementation and review of components of the boroughs
Strategy and Action Plan for Air Quality and/or Energy and Climate Change. Contribute
to developing, designing, implementing and pro-actively improving measures and
programmes and in particular ensure that they are efficiently and effectively
discharged with the active participation of the local community, the voluntary sector,
businesses, schools and specialist groups as appropriate using consultative techniques.
Ensure schemes are of a high quality, commensurate with available resources and
represent value for money in meeting the customer and client expectations and

Climate Change, such as responding to planning applications
3. Ensure that the workstreams for which the postholder is responsible for comply with
relevant legislation For issues arising under London Local Air Quality Management
(LLAQM) system, the Environment Act 1995, the Pollution Prevention and Control Act
1999, the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010, the Clean Air Act 1993 and all
other relevant legislation; the Climate Change Act 2008, the Renewable Energy
Directive 2009, the Energy Act 2008.
4. Be responsible for the maintenance of air quality monitoring stations belonging to.
